Welcome to Outreach Hannover, a diverse non-governmental, not-for-profit association based in Hannover, Germany. Our association is made up of individuals from various countries and nationalities, united by a common goal of promoting human rights, civil participation, youth and adult education, and environmental awareness.
Our main priorities include youth work, adult education, social entrepreneurship, and empowering youth workers in the fields of entrepreneurship, promotion of a culture of acceptance and social inclusion, and intercultural dialogue. Our dedicated founders and active members possess extensive experience in youth work, non-formal education, volunteering, intercultural and interreligious dialogue, EU foundations and values, active citizenship, and communication skills.
We have successfully implemented several KA2 Strategic partnership projects on a European level, as well as numerous KA2 – Adult framework projects, all aimed at promoting employability, innovation, and inclusion among young people and adults with different abilities. Furthermore, we have coordinated and executed a variety of KA1 – youth projects, addressing topics such as ICT entrepreneurship skills, fundraising for inclusive youth work, interfaith and interreligious dialogue, and stress management for youth workers.
At Outreach Hannover, we recognize the critical role technology and information systems play in the lives of young people. To address this, we have organized activities for youth leaders and youth workers to explore and learn how to use audio-visual and multimedia tools for promoting inclusion and sharing information. We also empower youth workers to combat youth unemployment and exclusion by offering training courses designed to help them organize and improve the quality of inclusion and employability impact in their activities.
We firmly believe that education is a powerful tool for building better communities. As such, we are dedicated to improving the lives of those in our community and beyond through cultural activities and engagement opportunities with local communities.
Our team at Outreach Hannover consists of key members who are long-term activists for promoting human rights and intercultural dialogue, experienced project managers, and facilitators, as well as seasoned accountants in charge of financial management and reporting. Our members have backgrounds in project management, logistics support, intercultural and interreligious projects, seminars, conferences, trainings, internet marketing, and ICT development for small enterprises. They have earned degrees in various fields, including religious studies, and have participated in an array of Erasmus+ projects and partnership initiatives.
Together, the Outreach Hannover team brings a wealth of expertise and experience to the table, as we strive to promote human rights, civil participation, youth and adult education, environmental awareness, alternative energy, and intercultural dialogue.
While OH is experienced in European cooperation, its activities are grounded in continuous local community-based work, developed in close cooperation with cultural, educational and faith-based actors in Hannover.
A key element of OH’s local anchoring is its cooperation with community organisations that provide direct and regular access to young people and their families. In this context, OH cooperates as an associated partner with the Serbian Orthodox Church of Saint Sava, which represents an important local community hub with long-standing experience in extracurricular work with children and young people from migrant and intercultural backgrounds. Through language, cultural and community-based activities, this environment offers young people safe and familiar spaces to overcome language barriers, strengthen identity, and develop a sense of belonging while integrating into the wider society.
OH’s local community engagement extends into established intercultural and inter-ethnic networks within Hannover. As part of its youth work, OH cooperates with the Serbian Orthodox Church of Saint Sava, which is situated in the Orthodox Christian Centre at Mengendamm alongside the Greek Orthodox community, creating a shared cultural and social hub used by families and youth from a variety of linguistic and cultural backgrounds. This setting functions as a multi-ethnic meeting place where young people encounter different traditions and languages in a community context. OH also links to broader ecumenical and intercultural structures in Hannover, such as inter-church networks that bring together diverse Christian communities in dialogue and joint activities, contributing to an inclusive environment for youth civic engagement. These partnerships enable OH to embed its non-formal education and youth empowerment formats in real, diverse community ecologies and to reach young people who may not otherwise engage with formal youth services.
This cooperation enables OH to reach young people with fewer opportunities who may not yet participate in mainstream youth structures, and to embed youth work activities in trusted local environments. The Church’s community activities are complemented by OH’s expertise in non-formal education, youth empowerment and inclusion, ensuring that learning formats remain open, non-religious in content, and fully aligned with Erasmus+ Youth values and quality standards.
OH’s local youth work is further strengthened by the professional practice and community engagement of its managing board, whose members are themselves locally embedded in Hannover. Their combined expertise allows OH to connect youth empowerment with practical life skills, creative expression and community participation:
- organisational sustainability and project-related financial literacy,
- digital communication and participation skills relevant for education and employability,
- arts-based and intercultural approaches supporting dialogue, expression and inclusion.
Through this ecosystem of local partnerships and competences, OH delivers youth work that is community-based, inclusive and sustainable, and that creates clear pathways between local youth activities and Erasmus+ Youth mobility. Staff mobilities under the accreditation are used to improve the quality of local youth work formats, which are then implemented and adapted in cooperation with associated partners such as community and cultural organisations, ensuring direct benefits for young people at local level.
A distinctive strength of OH is that our local youth work is not “stand-alone”, but connected to real local ecosystems: micro-initiatives, cultural actors and small organisations that young people and their families actually interact with.
